Carbon Dioxide Output Soaring Globally

Report: Global carbon dioxide output soaring

US department of energy says greenhouse emissions rose six per cent in 2010, far more than recent worst case scenario.

The global output of heat-trapping carbon dioxide jumped by the biggest amount on record, the US department of energy has calculated, in a sign of how weak the world’s efforts have been at slowing man-made global warming. The new figures for 2010 mean that levels of greenhouse gases are higher than the worst case scenario outlined by climate experts just four years ago. “The more we talk about the need to control emissions, the more they are growing,” John Reilly, co-director of MIT’s Joint Programme on the Science and Policy of Global Change, said. The world pumped about 564 million more tonnes of carbon into the air in 2010 than it did in 2009, an increase of six per cent. That amount of extra pollution eclipses the individual emissions of all but three countries – China, the US and India, the world’s top producers of greenhouse gases. It is a “monster” increase that is unheard of, said Gregg Marland, a professor of geology at Appalachian State University, who has helped calculate Department of Energy figures in the past. Extra pollution in China and the US account for more than half the increase in emissions last year, Marland said.

‘Big jump’ “It’s a big jump,” said Tom Boden, director of the Energy Department’s Carbon Dioxide Information Analysis Centre at Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Tennessee. “From an emissions standpoint, the global financial crisis seems to be over.” Boden said that in 2010 people were traveling, and manufacturing was back up worldwide, spurring the use of fossil fuels, the chief contributor of man-made climate change. India and China are huge users of coal. Burning coal is the biggest carbon source worldwide and emissions from that jumped nearly eight per cent in 2010. “The good news is that these economies are growing rapidly so everyone ought to be for that, right?” Reilly said Thursday. “Broader economic improvements in poor countries has been bringing living improvements to people. Doing it with increasing reliance on coal is imperiling the world.” In 2007, when the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) issued its last large report on global warming, it used different scenarios for carbon dioxide pollution, and said the rate of warming would be based on the rate of pollution. Boden said the latest figures put global emissions higher than the worst case projections from the climate panel. Those forecast global temperatures rising between 2.4 and 6.4 degrees Celsius by the end of the century with the best estimate at four degrees Celsius.

‘Horrible legacy’ Even though global warming skeptics have attacked the climate change panel as being too alarmist, scientists have generally found their predictions too conservative, Reilly said. He said his university worked on emissions scenarios, their likelihood, and what would happen. The IPCC’s worst case scenario was only about in the middle of what MIT calculated are likely scenarios. Chris Field of Stanford University, head of one of the IPCC’s working groups, said the panel’s emissions scenarios are intended to be more accurate in the long term and are less so in earlier years. He said the question now among scientists is whether the future is the panel’s worst case scenario “or something more extreme”. “Really dismaying,” Granger Morgan, head of the engineering and public policy department at Carnegie Mellon University, said of the new figures. “We are building up a horrible legacy for our children and grandchildren.” But Reilly and University of Victoria climate scientist Andrew Weaver found something good in recent emissions figures. The developed countries that ratified the 1997 Kyoto Protocol greenhouse gas limiting treaty have reduced their emissions overall since then and have achieved their goals of cutting emissions to about eight per cent below 1990 levels. The US did not ratify the agreement. In 1990, developed countries produced about 60 per cent of the world’s greenhouse gases, now it is probably less than 50 per cent, Reilly said. “We really need to get the developing world because if we don’t, the problem is going to be running away from us,” Weaver said. “And the problem is pretty close from running away from us.”

Bob Potchen - The Cell Production Increases

Production levels at The Cell Inc continue to rise as the demand for the Worlds Best Hydrogen System continues to rise.

As seen in the picture, the assembly tables are full of the newest system offered by The Cell Inc. out of Sanford Florida.

"We are busting at the seams again", states Bob Potchen, President of The Cell Inc. "We have been accepted by some of the largest fleets in the world, and it continues to grow even further."

It seems the planet has finally caught up to the concept Bob Potchen has been promoting for years, lower the emissions and save some fuel as well.  Recent tests and actual use have show consistently repeatable saving in the 20% Plus range.

Volvo / Renault show Significant Fuel Savings In the UK using The Cell, Inc Trucker System

The Cell Inc Trucker System was fitted to a 2005my Renault Premium DCi 11 litre 420 HP. The tests were run while monitoring the engine using the Renault NG3 diagnostic tool. This is the same diagnostic tool that is currently in use around the world with all Volvo / Renault dealers. It sets the standard for accuracy in all of their diagnostic functions.  The NG3 identified a reduction in fuel at the injectors of over 30% with a significant decrease in engine load as well.

The Cell Inc UK LTD, in partnership with its parent company, The Cell Inc., have been achieving fuel savings on large fleets / trucks for the past four years. Tests have been run on other large lorries in the UK with similar results.

“Continued cooperation and support from both companies will result in ongoing advancements in the rest of the Volvo / Renault fleet”, states Bob Potchen, president of The Cell, Inc in the US. Mr. Potchen continued by saying, “If all of the other manufacturers were as helpful and forthcoming with information as Volvo / Renault,  are, we would have advanced much quicker in this endeavor.”

The Cell was also installed on a 2011 Renault Premium DXi, which is the latest vehicle to be released by Renault. It is powered by an 11 litre, 450HP Volvo/Renault engine running SCR. This vehicle is a popular choice in the UK for fleet operators with drivers enjoying the standard Renault options.

During testing the Renault driver advised that he felt an improvement in how the vehicle drives as well as a significant reduction in engine noise. This was also supported by the various members present from Renault that confirmed the reduction in engine noise levels.  Fuel saving were reflective of the previous test and should be published in the near future.

The Cell Inc UK LTD:

“ I have been surprised how quickly operators have decided to implement The Cell into their vehicles. If you tell a customer you can save him up to 10% on fuel they generally give it a try but tell them that you can save at least double that figure and they say it is impossible! Having successfully trialed The Cell with some major fleets and Manufactures they have now accepted that the savings are a reality”

Bob Potchen-Results Consistant

By Alan Kovack, CN  3 December 2010

Sanford, Florida (CN)The Cell Inc announces the continued gains in fuel milage on late model Cummins ISX series engines.   The Gains are from the use of The Cell System Trucker System that injects Hydrogen into the combustion process.  The Hydrogen is generated via purified water and patent pending processes they developed.  Fuel saving range from 18% to 31%.  When asked why the broad difference in gains, Bob Potchen, President of The Cell, to us,"This is due to the environment the Truck is in....such as the mountains or plains, both offer significant differences in milage even without our system." "It also shows our system handles ALL of the variables thrown at it and STILL gets improvements"

For further information on The Cell Trucker system, Bob Potchen may be contacted at (407)-330-7838 or Bob@TheCell.net orBob@TheCell.com.
